Often the real problem is that you only move your stuff from one place to another. This is not cleaning! It\u2019s difficult to have a clutter-free, neat house when you have too many unused items. These are often items that haven’t been used in years.<\/p>\n

The basic principle of decluttering is simple: Get rid of what you don\u2019t need and organise the rest!<\/p>\n

Should I throw things away?<\/strong><\/p>\n

To decide if you need the item or not you should take it into your hands (because tactile sensations are important) and answer these questions:<\/p>\n

  1. Do I love this item enough to dust it regularly?<\/li>\n
  2. If I had to move next week would I take it with me?<\/li>\n
  3. Do I use it regularly?<\/li>\n
  4. Could I use this place for something else?<\/li>\n
  5. Does it increase the quality of my life?<\/li>\n
  6. Have I used it this year?<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Depending on how you have answered the questions you can choose to keep it or let it go.<\/p>\n

    Where do I put all the stuff I’ve decided to get rid of?<\/strong>
    \nThere are plenty of ways to get rid of them! The easiest way is to just throw away your stuff, but as this isn\u2019t very ecological, it is better to recycle them. You can also give things that aren\u2019t broken to a charitable foundation or put them into the H&M (or any other) recycle box. Lastly, but not necessarily the best way, is to move everything to your mum\u2019s house.<\/p>\n

    How do I organise my wardrobe?<\/strong>
    \nAfter getting rid of stuff, it\u2019s time to organise things, and the most popular question is: How do I organise my wardrobe?<\/p>\n

    Just trust your intuition. For some people it\u2019s more comfortable to organise clothes by colour, for others by fabric and for others by its purpose. When you see and touch an item you can easily decide if it would feel better on hangers or in a pile.<\/p>\n

    And there\u2019s no need to buy expensive organisers: you already have everything you need. Be creative: use old shoe boxes and create your own organisers.<\/p>\n

    What is forbidden when decluttering?<\/strong><\/p>\n

    Three things that are forbidden:<\/p>\n

    ? Showing your relatives what you\u2019re going to throw away. They have another view of life and very often they will tell you to save everything you can, especially the older generation.<\/p>\n

    ? Decluttering other people\u2019s rooms without their permission. A person should decide themselves if they need to declutter. If the item is not yours – don\u2019t touch it.<\/p>\n
